Value Driven Mission
In 1973, Jim and Velma Bridges founded Pathway Caring for Children with just 4 boys in a group home. Today, Pathway continues to live out Jim’s mission by helping children and families realize the possibilities of their lives through foster care, adoption, and mental health. Watch our mission video HERE.
Pathway staff, foster parents, board members, and volunteers uphold our 7 values (Love, Recognize, Respect, Security, Success, Responsibility, and Personal Involvement) to be agents for change. We stand next to children and families, regardless of the daily challenges being faced.
Pathway is a trauma-informed agency. All staff receive training to understand the strong impact trauma has on a person’s physical, emotional, mental, and social experiences, not just on clients but also on all of us as staff.
Our People
We at Pathway Caring for Children are advocates for all children in the constant pursuit of making them feel worthy and valued in hopes of changing any unfair or biased perceptions that have been projected on them. We are committed to ensuring that discrimination does not exist in our service delivery. This is a long-term commitment; one that requires each of us to take personal responsibility to humble ourselves in addressing the causes of injustice. We continue to learn and increase our understanding, all while growing in efforts to promote diversity.
“I count myself as one of the most fortunate people in the world because I have been able to see my dreams come true. That’s something that does not happen to most people. That long-ago vision—to provide places where children can live through their problems with people committed to them—is happening every day now at Pathway.” ~Jim Bridges, Pathway Co-Founder
