- Mental Health Care Usage: In 2021, 12.8% of children aged 3–17 in Ohio got mental health care.
- Increased Diagnosis: In 2020, almost 1 in 8 children were diagnosed with anxiety, depression, or both—a 42% increase.
- Anxiety in Students: One in three Ohio students struggles with anxiety.
- Depression in Teens: The number of high school students with major depression has almost doubled in the past decade.
- Frequent Mental Distress (FMD): 4.9% of adolescents aged 12–18 have FMD, which means their mental or emotional problems stop them from going to school, socializing, or doing usual activities for at least 7 of the past 30 days.
- FMD by Ethnicity: Hispanic teens aged 12–18 have the highest FMD at 7.1%, while white kids aged 5–11 have the lowest at 3.5%.
